Senior BMD Systems Engineer/Analyst
Black Knight is searching for an experienced and dynamic System Engineer or Analyst to take a lead technical role in the test, analysis, assessment, and evaluation of the integration of a Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) capability into the Aegis Combat System (ACS).
Job Description
This position requires an experienced engineer or computer scientist capable of making immediate technical contributions. As such, 5+ years experience with the design, development, test, and/or evaluation of either the ACS or BMD is required. Work is to be performed in Dahlgren, VA, with moderate travel required to predominately New Jersey, Washington DC, the eastern shore of Virginia, and Hawaii.
Applicants must be confident in their ability to come in and make an immediate impact, must be able to work independently and with a team, and must have some background in the analysis of combat, weapon, and/or radar systems.
This position will entail the following duties:
- Review the technical implementation and design of BMD in various Aegis Baseline.
- Set criteria for test events to ensure adequate coverage of requirements.
- Analyze data from the system elements, including potentially Weapon Control System (WCS), Command and Decision (C&D), Aegis Display System (ADS), the SPY radar system, and the Command and Control Processor (C2P).
- Interpret analysis to identify and resolve BMD issues to assess the overall safety of the program for release to the Fleet, and evaluate the design of BMD within the ACS.
- Define requirements for automated test tools to assist in the issue and performance analysis for BMD.
- Based on analysis and technical expertise, make recommendations to developers for improved system design and to the Fleet for ways to identify and handle existing BMD issues.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
The minimum requirements are as follows:
- 5+ years experience with the design, development, test, and/or evaluation in any combination of either the elements of the ACS or of BMD on any platform.
- Experience performing data analysis.
- Experience developing test requirements.
In addition, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- B.S. degree in engineering, science, or math discipline from an accredited college
- Experience with both ACS and BMD
- Experience with Naval Combat Systems
- Experience with SPY Radar or Missile Systems
- Experience with non-Aegis Weapon Control Systems or Radar Systems
- Experience with Open Architecture Design
